8 Days 'til My New Life

I wanted to take a second and make sure everyone realizes with my last post that I wasn't trying to insult or suggest that the Doctors or Nurses I've seen over the past few months were in anyway deficient. I was just trying to express that the process is such a long one that at times it can be frustrating.

My overall experience with New Life Center for Bariatric Surgery has been excellent! They are very informative and helpful throughout the whole process and have stated more than once that they will be available to us anytime through the first year after the procedure; which will even end with a session with the Life Coach on staff.

I feel very confident in the Surgeon and Staff at New Life. =)

Oh boy, 8 days until the Surgery now. This is big, my entire life is going to change. I'm sure there are people who would roll their eyes at that statement but that's how it feels. There are so many changes that I will have to make after the Gastric Bypass that I'm actually worried that I'll forget something. LOL, mostly it's the odd little rules, such as: you can't chew gum anymore after the surgery, you can't have alcohol b/c your alcohol tolerance drops 95%, not that I would ever be considered a lush by any means but I do currently drink socially. =P

Now instead of responding that I'm not allergic to any medicines when a Doctor asks I have to respond that I'm allergic to NSAIDS. Just remembering that I'll have an intolerance for Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs seems as if it'll be a great challenge! Examples of these products are Aspirin, Ibuprofen, and Naproxen.

This definitely isn't a change for the faint of heart, I think it's important to realize that having weight loss surgery is a major decision for anyone and just getting through the whole process takes determination.

Today, I've been deciding what meals I want to have for Phase 1 (liquids only phase) after the surgery and while I'm tempted to spurn the products that New Life suggests purchasing from them b/c they are a little pricier I decided to go with the products; after all I want to make sure that I do everything I can to optimize my weight loss after the procedure.

I admit that the taste isn't the greatest but I've tasted worse! =)
