This has been a good week! I know I haven't been posting as much but that's mainly because after you enter Phase 3 it becomes basically the same thing over and over. The first couple weeks of Phase 3 I stayed sick most of the time because while they said that I could start solid foods, up to 3 ounces per meal, I still needed to focus on eating proteins and stay away from starches and carbs. I kept getting sick because even when I measured out 1.5 ounces it was still too much. So the first couple of weeks I could eat 1 ounce per meal and it was only this past weekend that I was able to keep down 2 ounces of food. So basically it's a learning process, what your body can take and eventually you can eat more as you go.
I have now lost 46 pounds and am below 300 pounds for the first time in 8 years!!!!
On top of that I saw my Doctor yesterday and my blood sugar level was at 83! I can't even remember the last time that was true! It's stayed at 140 and above for many years now! My Doctor said that I didn't have to start taking the Diabetic pills or shots anymore too! *doing a happy dance* This is so fantastic!
It's completely unreal to me that less than 2 months after surgery my diabetes seems to be cured but he said that he sees that happen post-gastric bypass surgeries.
I still miss breads and pasta and potatoes. Oh goodness, if I could have mashed potatoes I would have no problems eating for the next six months because I could live off them. I used to love having a turkey burger with mashed potatoes on the side and the combination was so much better than fries with it.
I'll be honest and say that when you're limited in the foods that you can choose from you get sick of things after awhile. Right now I'm tired of eggs and chicken so I've basically been eating a Turkey Patty made out of ground turkey and a piece of cheese melted on top most of the time. I have made a meatloaf (with ground chicken) this week and omitted the bread crumbs from the recipe and that tastes OK. So I'm eating that today but honestly I prefer the Turkey Patties.
I think I'm going to buy some Tofu and Turkey Bacon the next time I go to the store. Who knows, maybe adding a little turkey bacon on the side of an egg will bring the flavor back for me.
